Waxing Recommendations and Information
The Rocky Mountain Conference (RMC) of the United States Ski & Snowboard Association has a full fluoro ban for all season races. This means that only non-fluorinated waxes may be used for glide, no LF, HF, nor pure fluoro may be used. The reasons for this ban are health of athletes and coaches, health of the environment and expense. See our study for more information: "Environmental Sustainability of Large-Scale Nordic Ski Events: GC/MS Quantification of Hydrocarbon Abundance and Fluorocarbon Concentration in Snow Samples at the World University Games, Strbske Pleso, Slovakia" - Ben Noren and Sierra Jech
We ask that all citizen racers cooperate with this directive.
In addition there will be a wax chosen for the race by the Race Director and all collegiate teams will use the same wax. We will post this wax if you are interested in waxing the same. You are welcome to choose your own non-fluoro wax.
Laramie Loppet Weather Prediction:
Wunderground Weather - Note that it is usually 5-10* colder up at the trails.
Wax Recommendation
The college racers will be using Swix HS 8.
